Frequently asked questions about the Graduation ceremony

We would like to offer you the opportunity to attend the graduation ceremony on October 25, 2024. To receive an invitation, please write to alumni@hs-mittweida.de.

All we need is you and your guests in a good mood.

Yes. The entire ceremony is a gift to your successful graduation from your Mittweida University of Applied Sciences .

Yes. It is necessary to register well in advance of the event for the preperation of the decorative certificate and the planning of our capacities. You will find the registration link and date in your invitation. After successful registration you will receive a confirmation email.

Yes. After registration you will receive a confirmation email containing a verification link. Please click this link to complete the registration. Also please check your spam or junk mailbox for the confirmation email.

If you studied in the DHS system, please note your academy from the start of your studies.

The number of seats in the town church "Unser lieben Frauen" in Mittweida are unfortunately limited. In order to give all graduates the opportunity to arrive in company, we therefore ask you to bring no more than four accompanying persons.

Entrance to the Stadtkirche is starting at 1:00 pm. To ensure a smooth event, please be sure to arrive at the Stadtkirche by 13:45. 

Please do not drive directly to Kirchplatz 3. The public car parks on Hainichener Straße and Zimmerstraße are only a few walking minutes away. You can also find the Hainichener Straße car park on GoogleMaps. A map of how to get there can be found here.

Yes. Please check in when you arrive. Our colleagues in the nave, sanctuary access, are responsible for this.

At the graduation ceremony there will be various speeches, among others by our rector Prof. Tolkmitt, afterwards each student will receive the decorative certificate as well as the graduation hat and the honorary pin from the professors. Afterwards you will walk together with your guests to the Technikumplatz, where a group photo of all graduates will be taken. Finally, you can round off the event with a champagne reception. We recommend to take about four hours to enjoy the programme with your guests in a relaxed atmosphere.

The graduation hat is free of charge for you and will be given to you by your professor during the ceremony. This means you do not need to get one in advance.

The wearing of the robe is reserved for the professors at the graduation ceremony. For this reason, you do not need one. Instead, you are welcome to wear formal clothing.

No, you will get an decorative certificate at the ceremony, but this is not accepted for official purposes. You will receive your diploma from your supervisor at the Studierendenservice.

Yes. Please refrain from taking photos and videos during the ceremoie. Don't worry, professional pictures as well as video clips will soon be available for free download on the university's homepage. After publication, you will receive an e-mail with a link to download the individual images.

You are welcome to attend the next event. Please send an e-mail to alumni@hs-mittweida.de.

No. The handing over of the decorative certificate, pin and graduation hat is linked to the participation in the ceremony. It is therefore sadly not possible to send them to you, even if the costs of sending them are covered. However, you are welcome to participate at the next date and receive your gifts then.

Normaly, the graduates of the previous winter semester are invited to the ceremony in May. In October, graduates from the summer semester are invited. However, sometimes the processing of your exmatriculation documents is delayed or you do not have a current address on file with us and we are unable to send you your invitation. If you have not received an invitation, please contact alumni@hs-mittweida.de.
